The Technology Center Warranty Shop is staffed with certified IBM repair maintenance specialists. They will check over your laptop and determine whether the damage is warranty or non-warranty. If the damage is covered under warranty, you will NOT have to pay a charge for the repair. If it is NOT covered under warranty, you will have to pay for the repair of your laptop.
What if I need a laptop for my classes?
Warranty Damage: Many times, the repair will only take a few minutes. However, in some cases it will take time for parts to come in. In these instances, because the damage is under warranty, you may be issued a loaner laptop to use while you are waiting for yours to be repaired. You will then be notified when your laptop is ready. You have 14 days from the date you are initially contacted to pick up your laptop. You must then return the loaner prior to getting yours back. The loaner will be checked out more thoroughly and if there are any damages to the loaner, you will be responsible for all fees and costs associated with the cost to repair the laptop.
Non-Warranty Damage: Sometimes, the damage to your laptop is not covered under warranty. In these instances, you will have to pay to have the laptop repaired. You may have to pay a deductible. If it is going to take time for the parts to come in and you need a loaner, you must first pay for the repair. Once your laptop is ready, you will be contacted. You must then return the loaner prior to getting yours back. The loaner will be checked over thoroughly and if there are any damages to the loaner, you will be responsible for all fees and costs associated with the cost to repair the loaner laptop.
